Download the source code [bz2| gz] or a Mandrake [ i586.rpm].
The new additions are a shadow mode (Thanx to Simone Lehmann again) and support for more sampling frequencies: 48K, 22K and 11K and of course, several bugfixes since the previous release
Development has been very very slow the last 10? months. Why? Basically I'm very busy with school stuff. I'll be done soon so I hope to devote time to the EQU by then. Still bugs are more or less being solved as they come up. Get the CVS source if you're having problems.
PS: Just for the sake of it I've created a Winamp plugin [ZIP] based on the core of the EQU. Use it under your own risk. Use Winamp 2.x preferably because version 5.x for some reason uses around 80% of the CPU in the development box WITHOUT the EQU!!. To install unzip the file and copy the DLL to your Winamp\Plugins directory and then select it from the configuration dialog.
I found an interaction bug when using XMMS 1.2.8 + EQU + xmms-crossfade 0.3.4: xmms-crossfade handling of the effect plugins is not the same as XMMS's so it does some unexpected calls. A workaround for this is in the CVS version now.
Still from what I've seen in my setup there shouldn't be any problems by just using XMMS 1.2.8 + EQU and any output plugin other than xmms-crossfade!
Here are the steps to workaround the XMMS 1.2.8 + EQU + xmms-crossfade 0.3.4 problem:
That's it.
This RPM was not compiled with support for the SSE nor SSE2 instruction sets. So if you have a processor that supports these instructions and want a performance improvement use the source code and install from there
Grab it if you're using the CVS source of EQU so you can use the shaded mode
If you are using woody/stable or sarge/testing try to compile from the CVS tree and report to us if it works or not (it should but is not tested yet)
Thanx to Florian Ragwitz for providing the package and the changes in the source tree.
If you hava an Intel compiler please contact me. I'm interested in the performance difference in the EQU using the vectorization technology in that compiler. Thanx
Several users have reported that XMMS 1.2.8 seg faults when they install and try to use EQU (I'm using XMMS 1.2.8 without a problem!). For the moment the workaround is to roll back to XMMS 1.2.7. Working on this one!
The first one is the core library of the well known Xine. They're using a 10-band only equalizer for the audio.
The other one is a plugin for the TKS (TKScript)
Maybe it's time to put the filter code in an independent library...
What do you think? I reserve the right to ignore your complaints about the design ;)
Download it from here. Thanx to Kai Beck.

The main feature of this release is skin support (brought to you by
Simone Lehmann).
You can download a tarball with skins from
from here.
More skins are expected. Check
Simone's site for new skins.
Of course you are welcome to create your own skin and share it :)
Finally, it WORKS with the recently released XMMS 1.2.8
I've modified the disk_writer output plugin to use the effect plugin since the version shipped with XMMS 1.2.7 doesn't.
You can get the patch here.
You will need XMMS' source tree (the modification was made to version 1.2.7 but you can try earlier versions of the CVS tree, it should work).
Put the patch in the directory xmms-source-tree/Output/disk_writer
and do a
Then run the usual XMMS compilation/installation process. If the source tree was already 'configured' you can just do a
in disk_writer's directory. This patch will be submitted to XMMS' bugzilla once the site it's up again.
